Chennai is a culturally rich city and is a capital of Tamil Nadu. The city has been center for art and culture for centuries. Drama, music, dance and art have been an integral part of the city's culture. The city is home to hundreds of theaters which include both movie theaters and drama theaters. The city has produced many famous dramatists. As Tamil film industry is based in Chennai one can imagine the importance of art and drama in the city. The city has many theater groups out of that Little Theater is the popular one. It is one of the popular theater groups of Tamil Nadu.
Little Theater not only aimed at producing and performing good dramas but they also encouraged small kids to go into theaters. The theater group was formed by Aysha Rau in 1991. The group was mainly aimed at promoting young children's into theater. They also organize many workshops and talent events. Some of the creative activities organized by the groups are pottery, puppetry, photography, craft works, magic, dance, etc. Presently there are 70 members of this theater belonging to the age group of 5 to 14. Besides taking part in creative activities children also participate in annual pantomime.

They also help underprivileged children through various programs. They offer scholarship to underprivileged children to help them to pursue higher studies. They have also performed choir and an orchestra. They have brought many children into the limelight of Drama and they are doing exceedingly well. The city annually organize many theater dramas.
